Company addresses

Every company maintains its own address book — independent of the private addresses of individual members. These addresses are selectable in the standard Shopware checkout.

Central management

Company addresses are managed by Owners and Administrators. Each address has the same field structure as a normal customer address:

FieldRequired
SalutationNo
First name, Last nameYes
Company (address line)No
Department, TitleNo
Street and house numberYes
Postal codeNo
CityYes
CountryYes
State / RegionNo
PhoneNo
Additional address line 1 / 2No

First address becomes the default

The first address of a company is automatically set as both the default billing and the default shipping address.

Creating and editing addresses (storefront)

Company addresses are managed through the standard account address book. As owner/admin:

  1. Open Account → Addresses. With an active company, the company addresses appear there as regular address cards.
  2. Use Add address to create a new company address, or Edit to change an existing one.
  3. Use Delete to remove an address.
  4. Use Set as billing / Set as shipping to define the respective default address. There is always exactly one default billing and one default shipping address.

Management requires an active company and the right role

Creating/editing/deleting requires a selected active company and the Owner or Administrator role. In addition, an edited address must belong to the active company.

Materialisation into the customer address book

So that company addresses can be selected in the standard checkout — without touching the order path — B2B+ Base automatically copies them, when needed, as real, customer-owned addresses into the customer's own address book. This process is called materialisation.

How it works:

  • Each copied customer address carries an invisible marker pointing back to the source company address.
  • The copy is only written when it is missing or the company address has actually changed. Unchanged addresses cause no writes.
  • Accidental duplicate copies are cleaned up automatically.

The order path stays 100% standard

Only real, customer-owned addresses are written, via the standard Shopware routes. The cart/order context is not manipulated and no private addresses are deleted. Checkout and order placement remain unchanged.

Default billing and shipping address

The company's addresses flagged as default billing/shipping are shown as the respective default cards in the account and in checkout. For the "company addresses only" feature (see below) they additionally serve as the target for the automatic pre-selection in checkout.

The "Show only company addresses" feature

Optionally, the merchant can decide that with an active company, only the company addresses are shown and used in the account and in checkout.

If the feature is active and the logged-in customer has an active company with at least one address, then:

  • the address book in the account shows only the company addresses (in the standard address-card design),
  • the address chooser in checkout is filtered to the company addresses,
  • checkout automatically pre-selects a company address as the billing/shipping address.

Shipping address stays shippable

Shipping is only switched automatically to a company address if that address's country is shippable in the current sales channel. Otherwise the existing (valid) selection is kept, so the cart always stays orderable.

Customers without an active company are not affected by the feature.

Escape hatch: "Use a different address"

So a company customer can still use a private address when needed, there is an escape:

  • On the address overview and in checkout, the link "Use a different address" appears.
  • Clicking it shows all of the customer's addresses again; the automatic pre-selection in checkout is dropped.
  • The link "Show only company addresses" switches back to the filtered mode.

The choice is remembered for the duration of the session (technically via the parameter ?b2bAllAddresses=1 to show all, or ?b2bAllAddresses=0 for company addresses only). While "all addresses" is active, the shop behaves exactly as standard.

Configuration

The feature is turned on/off via the single plugin setting "Show only company addresses" — per sales channel. Default: off. Details and the exact help text are on Configuration.
